General Manager, Auckland NRL Nines
Having graduated as a youngster in personal training, Trina’s sporting career really took off when she landed her first role with NIKE New Zealand over 20 years ago. When she moved on from NIKE in the late 90’s Trina went on to manage major communication and event campaigns all around the world for some of the biggest global brands including Air New Zealand with the Super 12, PlayStation’s World Rally Championship, World Wrestling Federation and Gillette at the FiFA World Cup.
After 14 years of living abroad Trina accepted a senior Executive role at New Zealand Rugby League in 2010 which sparked her transition back to New Zealand. Under her influence, the NZRL gained control of the 2010 Four Nations Tournament (never before staged in New Zealand) and the 2012 ANZAC Test, an annual fixture last played on New Zealand soil in 1998.
Trina took the operational reins on the NRL Auckland Nines in its inaugural year back in 2014 and went on to be named the Tournament CEO after the first years huge success. During her 2 ½ tenure, Trina has been crowned the 2014 Maori Sports Administrator of the Year and the 2015 NZEPA Event Professional of the year. Trina dedicates a large amount of her time outside of the office to her gorgeous 8 year old daughter, to her tertiary studies, from which she graduated in 2012 with a double degree in Psychology and Communications, and to dabbling in the odd half ironman here and there.
