Julie Bartlett

Founder, Star Jam

One of Julie’s first jobs was in a Swiss ski resort, as a horse and sleigh taxi driver. Previously only Swiss citizens, who were men had been allowed this job. Convincing her boss into giving her this job, proved to Julie that anything is possible. She then wanted to help make all sorts of things possible not just for herself but for others, working for organisations ranging from Save the Children to Autism NZ.

Julie has founded and led two social change organisations; StarJam – empowering young people with disabilities through performance and more recently Julie launched Sources Of Unconditional Love – SOUL, empowering girls, especially those who suffer because of prejudice and discrimination. Julie has been recognized widely for her 25 years’ of charitable work; she was named Supreme Winner of Next Woman of the Year Awards in 2012 and appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2013.
